- Tics (Habit Spasms)
- SYMPTOMS include the sudden, repetitive, brief movements such as shrugging
- of the shoulder, twitching at the corner of the mouth or eye, nodding or
- shaking of the head and clearing of the throat.
- CAUSES are mostly unknown at this time but it is often associated with
- encephalitis and psychological mechanisms. Tics may persist into adulthood
- but they usually start about the age of 6 and disappear around puberty.
